Documents and evidence for a student visa.

Student Visa Checklist

Securing a student visa relies primarily on providing official administrative proof of institutional enrolment and verification of legal identity. Your core portfolio begins with an unconditional offer letter or electronic confirmation of enrolment (such as an I-20, CAS, or CoE) issued by an accredited institution, alongside a valid passport with at least six months of remaining validity beyond your intended stay. You must also present verified academic transcripts, standardised language proficiency test results (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL, PTE), and a clear Statement of Purpose (SOP) that outlines your educational objectives, choice of institution, and long-term career goals. Additionally, health clearances—such as a tuberculosis test report or general medical evaluation—and a police clearance certificate are frequently required to meet entry conditions.

Equally vital is proving financial capacity and genuine temporary intent to reassure immigration authorities that you can sustain yourself throughout your studies. Financial documentation must show accessible funds covering at least the first year of tuition and living expenses through liquid sources such as 3- to 6-month bank statements, approved education loan sanction letters, official scholarship grants, or fixed deposit receipts. If a family member is funding your education, you must supply a sworn affidavit of support alongside their official tax returns, salary slips, or business proof. Finally, demonstrating strong ties to your home country—such as family commitments, local assets, or prospective post-study career opportunities—helps establish that you intend to comply with visa regulations and leave upon programme completion.
